SABEW names Watson executive director

Warren Watson is the new executive director of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, an organization that serves business and financial journalists.
Watson is a veteran newspaper editor, the former vice president and acting co-president of the American Press Institute and most recently, the directly of a non-profit initiative for journalism high school students, J-Ideas, which is housed at Ball State University.
He replaces Dave Beal who has served as the organization’s interim director since last fall.

“SABEW is very fortunate to have recruited such an outstanding journalist and leader to help us grow the organization and support business journalism,” said SABEW President Greg McCune, training editor for Thomson Reuters. “Warren has a proven track record of developing programs that make a difference and managing them well. I see an exciting future for SABEW under his steady guidance.”
