G20 dominates news outlets

Who cares about the G20 summit? Well, business media, for one.

With 20 of world’s economic leaders wrapping up a two-day meeting in Pittsburgh today, the major television news outlets have been following the story. Or, as some of the most vocal sources called it, “the non-story.”

The G20 — the countries with the 19 largest economies and the European Union — is replacing the G8 as the primary economic council of wealthy nations. This session, members agreed to maintain stimulus programs until an economic recovery is a sure thing.

The summit, like the G8 summit, drew hours and hours of television coverage on Fox Business Network, MSNBC and Bloomberg throughout the day. Most reporters were on edge waiting for timed announcements.
