Raw video helps tell the story of unemployment
As part of a poll of unemployed workers, The New York Times requested videos from respondents and posted them on its Web site.
The 10 videos allow people to speak in their own unedited words.
Today’s Tip: Solicit videos to give your audience the full impact of what your sources said.
The Tennessean in Nashville did a similar project in which its staff produced videos on five young, unemployed people. With the raw video, however, the Times permits us to really feel the impact of job loss by allowing a cross-section of folks to tell it like it is.
