Deadline for 2009 IRE Awards extended

IRE has extended the deadline for submissions to the 2009 IRE Awards to Friday, Jan. 15.

Beth Kopine, contest coordinator at Investigative Reporters and Editors Inc., said entries must be postmarked on that date.

“As you review work from 2009, don’t forget that we have added a new category to the contest that honors breaking news investigations,” Kopine said in an e-mail reminder.

The contest is is open to all journalists, regardless of media platform. Individual categories will honor work done in print, broadcast and online, with a special category honoring student work.

Eligible work must have been published, aired or posted between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2009.

More information about the contest and entry forms are on the IRE site.
