Reynolds Center to present at New England press convention
Two presenters from the Reynolds Center will present ‘Finding Fresh Angles on the Economy in Your Own Backyard’ at the New England Newspaper & Press Association (PDF) on Feb. 5.
Ron Nixon, projects reporter for the New York Times, will show journalists how to follow the money coming out of Washington, where he is based.Nixon will share tips on finding local stories related to the TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) and economic-stimulus funds. He will help answer questions about who’s getting the money, and what are they doing with it?
As a former training director for Investigative Reporters and Editors, he has trained hundreds of reporters in investigative and computer-assisted reporting techniques.
Robin J. Phillips, Web managing editor for BusinessJournalism.org, will talk about using social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, to spot economic trends and find real people at the local level to humanize, illustrate and help tell economic stories.
The session is part of the two-day NENPA convention and trade show.
