CNNMoney.com uses Pa. housing agency to update $1.5B program story
Tami Luhby of CNNMoney.com profiled a role model for President Obama’s plan to save homeowners facing foreclosure.
Luhby writes:
“The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency offers the jobless and those suffering financial hardship loans of up to $60,000 for as long as three years to cover their monthly payments or take care of their arrears. Created in 1983, the program boasts an 80 percent success rate in preventing foreclosures.”
The story follows the Obama administration’s announcement last month of a $1.5 billion program to help states hardest hit by the mortgage crisis. It also includes interviews with two people who’ve benefited from the loans the agency offers.
Today’s Tip: Spin a story forward by looking for people or companies that have already met a goal.
Luhby’s story notes that directors from other state agencies having been calling the Pennsylvania director for advice.
When you’re working on a story about a proposed plan, ask around to see where company executives are getting their advice.
Doing so here provides a look at an agency that had mostly been covered by community news outlets and places it into the perspective of a larger national story.
