AP is looking for an editor for interactive technology
The Associated Press is seeking an Interactive Newsroom Technology Editor for its New York City headquarters.
AP says it wants to hire someone with a “deep knowledge of Web services technologies and a solid understanding of the wireless landscape.”
In their AP Careers site ad for the job, editors say:
“This editor manages a staff of programmer-journalists and designers to create groundbreaking online journalism. The applicant will work with news editors, designers and business personnel in order to lead a team that creates dynamic, data-driven products for online such as widgets, data journalism, sophisticated interactive features, easy-to-use templates for the larger newsroom, designs for mobile, apps for social media sites and other new forms of storytelling and distributing journalism.”
Duties include:
- Assigns and ensures high-quality interactive content
- Makes sure that work aligns to industry standards
- Works closely with other departments in the newsroom and in business to ensure that projects align with AP’s editorial and business goals.
- Creates new workflows in order to be able to quickly assemble small teams on collaborative projects with fast turnaround, as well as long-term projects
- Contributes to brainstorming and execution of new ideas
