President Obama has signed legislation that promises to bring about the most sweeping social change in decades with the overhaul of the nation’s health-care system. What are the stories you should be doing now that will help consumers and businesses understand what’s in it for them?
To get your questions answered about health-care reform, join us for a live, hourlong chat at noon EDT April 6 with John F. Wasik, author of an upcoming book on the subject. His 13th and most recent book is “The Audacity of Help: Obama’s Economic Plan and the Remaking of America.” He’s covered health care and personal finance for Bloomberg News and Consumers Digest magazine.
Read more about Wasik at www.johnwasik.com. During the free chat, Wasik will offer some ideas and links, and you’ll be able to pose questions to him and get answers in real time.
Join us at noon EDT on April 6 for this special, guest-hosted version our daily conversation about stories: on the Daily Story Idea Chat.
In addition, Wasik will also moderate a teletraining conference call for members of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers from 3 to 4 p.m. EDT April 7 called, “Now That It’s Passed: Covering the New Health-Care Law.”
The call will begin with a discussion among these panelists, followed by 30 minutes of answering e-mailed questions:
• Len Nichols, professor of health policy and director of the Center for Health Policy Research and Ethics at George Mason University.
• Trudy Lieberman, formerly of Consumer Reports and director of the health and medicine reporting program at the Graduate School of Journalism at City University of New York, also president of the Association of Health Care Journalists’ board of directors.
• Sara R. Collins, Ph.D, vice president for Affordable Health Insurance at the Commonwealth Fund, an economist whose responsibilities include directing the Fund’s national health insurance program; research and policy analysis; and survey development.
For instructions on how to participate in the call, e-mail sabew@sabew.org with the words “SABEW Training Call” in the subject line before 2 p.m. EDT on April 7.
