Robin J. Phillips is the Reynolds Center’s digital director.
She is a master’s candidate at Arizona State University and teaches a course on the Business & Future of Journalism at the Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU. She is also a founding member of #wjchat, a weekly Twitter-based conversation about web journalism.
Phillips came to the Reynolds Center in August 2009 from azcentral.com, the website of The Arizona Republic, where she was online community manager and in charge of the newsroom’s social media presence. She had also served as deputy business editor at The Republic.
Phillips spent most of her career in the Northeast where she was Deputy Business Editor at Newsday, editor for BusinessWeek Online’s small business channel and business editor for The Bergen Record, in Hackensack, N.J.
Robin was an adjunct professor of new media at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York and has presented at various journalism organizations on the use of social media as a reporting tool. She holds a degree in journalism and political science from the University of Hawaii.
