Forbes editor Baldwin steps down to become columnist, blogger

William Baldwin told his editorial colleagues this morning that he was stepping down as Editor of Forbes magazine, a post that he has held since 1999.

Beginning Sept. 1, Forbes said, “Bill will be a contributor, columnist and blogger, with the title Investment Strategies Editor. His story subjects will be the ones to which he has recently devoted his Sidelines column: taxes, asset allocation, money managers and investment products.”

Baldwin’s changing role comes two months after Forbes purchased freelance journalism site TrueSlant and put founder Lewis Dvorkin in charge of all editorial areas as chief product officer.

It’s not like Baldwin hasn’t been writing.
