Mark Moran: Reynolds Center presenter
Mark Moran is the news director for KJZZ, Phoenix’s public radio station.
He began his radio career in Alaska, reporting on the environment, state and local government and a host of other issues, including the aftermath of the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
From Alaska, he went to Iowa to cover politics, including the Iowa Caucuses. While there, he reported nationally and internationally on the floods of 1993 that devastated the Midwest. He also covered the birth of the McCaughey septuplets and produced a number of award-winning documentaries.
He has reported for national and international news agencies, including the BBC, CBC and Voice of America.
Mark is a regular voice from Arizona on NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered, reporting on border wars, boulder mining along historic Route 66, Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s no-nonsense approach to punishing criminals and political races that have captured national attention.
He won two first-place awards from the Arizona Associated Press in the categories of Best Use of Sound and Sports Reporting and the Edward R. Murrow Western Regional Award for his feature on steel-guitar legend Bud Isaacs.
