Slate Group pulls the plug on The Big Money
From a memo by Jacob Weisberg, chairman and editor-in-chief of the Slate Group, and John Alderman, general manager of the Slate Group and publisher of Slate, about The Big Money’s demise::
“The problem, in a nutshell, is that the site is not pointed toward profitability on a fast enough timetable.”
Described on the site as “a Web site that focuses on all important aspects of economics and money without getting bogged down in arcane statistics or impenetrable jargon,” The Big Money got bogged down in the realities of online news economics.
