Jobs: Spanish ‘essential’ to cover markets in Mexico City or ‘a plus’ to cover real estate in San Antonio

Two business-reporting jobs popped up recently on PoynterCareers in which Spanish-speaking skills are either desirable or essential.

Fluent Spanish or Portuguese is essential for markets-reporting jobs in Latin America at Bloomberg News. The jobs include positions in its Mexico City office, covering “the local fixed-income and equity markets under real-time deadline pressure. The successful candidate must break news on governments and corporate finance and write agenda-setting stories by interviewing company executives, bankers and investors,” the ad states. Minimum experience level is three years, including experience working in a real-time news environment. A bachelor’s degree and U.S. residency status are required.

To apply, go to http://www.bloomberg.com/about/careers.

Spanish is described as “a plus” for a real estate-reporting job at the San Antonio Express-News. The paper is looking for an “experienced, full-time reporter to cover commercial real estate and some residential real estate.” The ad notes:  ”There is much 1A potential for the stories off this high-profile beat. Stories would include new shopping centers, office buildings, multi-use developments etc., but also broader trend pieces as they apply to San Antonio. The reporter also would be expected to write biweekly residential stories for the award-winning Sunday Real Estate section. These stories are more consumer-friendly and focus on educating readers about the San Antonio residential market.”

The job is open to U.S. residents who hold a bachelor’s degree and have five to 10 years of experience on “a major daily newspaper.” For more information and to apply, click here.
