Quick chat with Universidad de Las Américas’ Maria Albertina Navas Leoro

Maria Albertina Navas Leoro, who teaches business and online journalism at the Universidad de Las Américas in Quito, Ecuador, detailed the challenges faced by business journalists in less politically stable countries. Leoro was a Business Journalism Professors Fellow during this year’s Reynolds Business Journalism Week.

Before joining academia, Leoro was the editor of LIDERES, a business magazine in Ecuado. She is also the author of “International Protection for Refugees: Historic Perspective from 1976-2004 in  Ecuador” and continues to work as a freelance reporter.

About the Author

After graduating from the University of Arizona in Spring 2011 with a degree in business economics and minor in spanish, Sarah decided to combine her love for business and writing. And so she made the move two hours north to the Valley. As a current masters student and graduate assistant at The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Sarah is specializing in business journalism. @sarpring
