MINORITY TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

*Dow Jones Newspaper Fund: for college students

Business Reporting Intern Program

For: Up to 12 minority college sophomores and juniors.

Requirements: Experience, academic excellence, application form, 500-word essay, three to five clips, and a reporting test provided by the Newspaper Fund

Both Include: One-week training at New York University , transportation, salary of at least $350 a week and $1,000 scholarship for students returning to full-time academics in the fall.

Newspapers requesting business interns must fill out this form.

* Dow Jones Newspaper Fund: for high school students

Summer Minority Workshops

For: High school minority students interested in business journalism.

* National Association of Black Journalists/Bloomberg Summer Internship

For: Three full-time college juniors and seniors and NABJ members interested in business journalism

Online application

Covers: Paid internship, and students responsible for travel and living expenses

Seminars: 10-week summer internship

* University of California at Berkley Business Reporting Program

Scholarship funded by Ariel Mutual Funds

For: Minority student applicants to the program.

One-year Fellowships for Reuters

For: Master's students who are members of a minority journalism association (such as the Asian American Journalists Association, National Association of Black Journalists, National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Native American Journalists Association)

Online application (Applicants must be admitted to the Journalism Master's program). Include clips, resume and cover letter stating reason for interest in the program.

Covers: Tuition and $14,000 stipend for one-year study. Fellow also works in the Reuters Washington bureau in the fall season and Capital News Service Washington bureau in the spring.
