Carol Coultas, a business reporter with the Sun Journal in Lewiston, Maine, recently traveled to Brazil to explore the paper and pulp industry thriving in that country. An industry that has helped drive her state's economy for 100 years, Coultas set out on a mission to report on the global expansion of papermaking -- and the impact it might have on the local market in Maine. Read a Q&A with Coultas about the trip here.

Coultas, a Reynolds Center Circle of Achievement member, received funding for her trip through a World Affairs journalism fellowship. "It was a great experience for me," she says of the trip.

Coultas has traveled in the past not only for reporting on a global scale, but for improving her own business journalism skills. In 2004, she packed her bags and headed to one of the Reynolds Center's workshops in Chapel Hill, N.C.

"I've used your template for writing longer stories more than a couple of times," Coultas says of the Reynolds Center's workshops.
