Allan Sloan, one of the country's best known business journalists as Newsweek's Wall Street editor, will become a senior editor at large for FORTUNE magazine.

Sloan will join FORTUNE on July 1, announced FORTUNE managing editor Andy Serwer in a press release.

Sloan's 35-year career as a business journalist includes six Gerald Loeb Awards. The Loeb Awards are considered business journalism's highest honor. He also received both the Loeb Lifetime Achievement Award for business and financial journalism, and the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers in 2001.

Prior to his 12-year stay at Newsweek, the Brooklyn native was a columnist at Newsday and held positions at Forbes and MONEY.

He currently contributes to Public Radio International's "Marketplace," and frequently appears as a commentator on the PBS television program,"Nightly Business Report."

Sloan received an M.S. from the Columbia Journalism School and a B.A. from Brooklyn College. He currently lives in New Jersey with his wife.
