Reynolds Center Seeks Web Managing Editor

Duties and responsibilities:
The Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism is seeking a Managing Web Editor. The Managing Editor will be responsible for leading and managing editorial staff and freelance writers and driving the direction and presentation of content on the BusinessJournalism.org website. The ME will coordinate content for regional workshops, online seminars, online tutorials and video conferences. The ME also will coordinate the center’s marketing and advertising campaigns, including design and ad buys.
 
Responsibilities include writing original articles for the Web site, tracking business news and trends and editing Web copy, traveling to workshops to represent the Reynolds Center and developing new Web-based programs.
 
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism and substantial experience in business journalism and Web-based journalism.
 
Desired qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be a highly driven idea generator with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interact with diverse populations. Knowledge of Web-marketing techniques including search engine optimization to increase traffic. Proficiency in HTML, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Final Cut Pro. Knowledge of social networking applications and skill in multimedia applications such as video editing, webinars, Flash and podcasting. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 

Department statement:
The Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism is dedicated to improving the quality of business journalism across American newsrooms. More than 8,000 journalists from more than 1,500 newsrooms nationwide have attended the center’s free one-day business journalism workshops. The Reynolds Center also runs BusinessJournalism.org, a Web site with resources, commentary and training designed specifically for business journalists, as well as weeklong online seminars and one-hour tutorials. Launched in 2003, the center is part of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in Phoenix.
