Montana paper opts for more analysis, less listings
On Wednesday, the Billings Gazette will have a new look for business. In an article announcing the changes, editor Steve Prosinski said that the revamp is geared toward more analysis in the hopes of giving readers a better understanding of why markets "did what they did" on any particular day. The new business pages will feature summaries of key results from the previous day's trading, a recap of nine indexes with index trends, analysis for the day ahead, more information on interest rates and the list goes on.
With all the new additions, however, something had to get trimmed. Yes, you guessed it. Stock listings. The trend continues...
Prosinski writes, "we've trimmed up our long lists of stocks and mutual funds to make room for the market information of interest to more readers. Our new format features an online component at billingsgazette.com/markets, where reader-investors can check all their stock prices and dig deep into the riches of market data provided by Morningstar via the Associated Press."
