The Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ deadline for the first Larry Birger Young Business Journalist Award is Jan. 31, 2014.
The winner will receive $500 and an expenses-paid trip to Phoenix where the award will be presented on March 29, 2014 at the SABEW Spring Conference.
To qualify, applicants must be under 30 years old and include a letter detailing their submitted work along with a letter of recommendation from a supervising editor.

The award commemorates the late Larry Birger, a former Miami Herald business editor and a one-time SABEW president. He was considered a pioneer in business journalism.
