SABEW’s new young business journalist award

SABEW logoThe Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ deadline for the first Larry Birger Young Business Journalist Award is Jan. 31, 2014.

The winner will receive $500 and an expenses-paid trip to Phoenix where the award will be presented on March 29, 2014 at the SABEW Spring Conference.

To qualify, applicants must be under 30 years old and include a letter detailing their submitted work along with a letter of recommendation from a supervising editor.

The winner will be chosen the first week of February.

The award commemorates the late Larry Birger, a former Miami Herald business editor and a one-time SABEW president. He was considered a pioneer in business journalism.
