Amy Romer

A freelance visual journalist currently living on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, in particular the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), sÉ™lilwÉ™taʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and xwməθkwəýəm (Musqueam) Nations. Amy was a National Geographic Explorer (2018 – 2022) and Global Reporting Centre grant recipient (2022 – 2023). Amy’s current projects look at the criminalization of Indigenous fishers in the Salish Sea, and government support for survivors of U.K. modern slavery.
