Private equity, public health: Finding the balance

Private equity-owned hospital systems, physician practices and other health-related businesses have grown rapidly in the past few years. Some analyses have raised concerns about changes in quality measures, such as hospital-acquired infections or falls and trauma, but others suggest that — if done well — the move could lead to innovative improvements in healthcare delivery. This session will help journalists learn how to balance reporting on financial drivers with health outcomes when covering the topic.
