Winners of the South Asia Economic Integration Summit contest

The Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism hosted “Benefits of South Asia Economic Integration: A Journalism Summit” Feb. 24 through Feb. 27 at the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai.  More than 60 journalists from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal came together to discuss the topic of economic and business integration in the region.

At the conclusion of the summit, the Reynolds Center announced a contest for attendees to honor their coverage inspired by the topics discussed. First, second and third place were awarded $1000, $750 and $500, respectively. The best piece to cover the summit was also awarded $500.

The winners of the contest are:

1st place – Robert Antony, Virakesari News Paper in Sri Lanka: “Economic Integration Is Key to Alleviating Poverty, Unemployment and Tensions in The SAARC Region

2nd place – Syeda Masooma, Pakistan Today: “People, not politicians, are the key to Indo-Pak economic integration

3rd place – Zulfiqar Ali Khan, Pamir Times: “Gilgit-Baltistan at the Crossroad of CPEC

Top summit coverage –  Sujit John, The Times of India: “Pakistanis and other South Asians are like you and I. And we can do much together.
