Switch Communications, a tech startup with a business communications app that claims modernizes the workplace phone, has raised another $35 million in funding, the company said last week.

Tech Crunch reported that the funds came just four months after the firm made its cloud-based communications suite widely available.

Many people in the business world are watching what Switch Communications is doing for an indication of how office life might change.

Switch hopes to replace the clunky phone at office desks with an application that works on any device, mobile or desktop, and ties them together with one phone number.

From the application, business users can make calls, message, and record and make conference calls.

Switch received funds from investors in Asia with ties to large telecommunication firms and will be looking for international opportunities.

In its statement, the company said it plans to hire more employees, and invest further in its products by increasing integrations with other cloud applications.

Tech Crunch said the series funding was lead by some of its previous investors, such as Google Ventures. That’s not a surprise, since the company was founded by the same executives who developed Google Voice.

When covering funding stories for startups, find out what the company is doing with that money, along with who has been funding the firm. Look at where the firm is expanding, which investors have stayed with the company, and who new investors are.
